Here comes the sun
I am so excited to have a sunny day! I am so tired of winter and cannot wait for spring to get here. I am ready for warm weather and getting out of the house! I think Kadin is getting anxious for spring too; being cooped up in our house is driving both of us a little crazy.
Jeremy and I had a wonderful Valentine's day weekend at the beach (thank you a million times over to both sets of parents who made it possible for us to have three days of escape). We went to Lincoln City, an old Sherwood/Theurer vacation staple, but we stayed in a new house Jeremy found for us. It was gorgeous! We got to go shopping at the outlet mall (since we were given so many baby clothes, Jeremy was pretty firm on not letting me buy any more. It was so hard to reisist all the adorable baby dresses!!!), eat at our favorite restaurant Mo's, go to my favorite bookstore in the world, Roberts, and just spend time together. The house we stayed in had bikes to ride, so when the weather got nice we took a spin around the neighborhood (until my thighs started to burn and I remembered how out of shape I am). We also got to soak in the hot tub . . . mmmmmmm.
When we came back, I was ready to go back to the business of being a mommy. It's amazing how a little time away can recharge the batteries and remind me of the good things about being home with the two kids. We've had the normal ups and downs like always, but I have a little bit more "oomph" to ride the roller-coaster again.

This bike made me feel like I should be wearing saddle shoes, it looks like something from a 50's movie. It was hilarious to ride a bike again (I couldn't remember the last time I had).
Sitting on the potty, watching a movie and eating Cheerios. Somehow we will get this figured out!
I put Kylee in the chair on top of some blankets while I went to go fix lunch for Kadin and me. When I turned around, she had put herself to sleep! Why can't that happen all the time?
She is so much more awake and alert now, it is fun to watch her watching everything around her. And I love having a little girl to dress up all frilly and pretty!

Why did we do this again?
Last night was ugly . . . well technically this morning. Kylee decided that her day was going to start at the lovely hour of 2 am. Usually, she wakes up, eats and dozes back off for another 3-4 hours. But this morning, she was wide awake and of course wasn't content to just lay in her crib and be fine by herself. After picking her up and putting her down for 2 hours, I just lay in bed and listened to her start to wind up to a nice loud scream and cried. I was so tired and so frustrated. Thankfully, my great husband saw/heard that I was at the end of my rope, so he took over for me for the next couple hours so I could catch a little more sleep and be able to face the day a sane woman.
Tonight is not gearing up to be a whole lot better; Kylee has been really needy and really cranky for the last 3-4 hours and I am hoping that Jeremy can work his magic again and get her to sleep. As I sit here listening to her squawk downstairs, I wonder why we volunteer to lose sleep, be screamed at (in close range no less), and be drenched in regurgitated liquid. Then I read one of my recently discovered blogs (found through a link from one of the other blogs I read); "The Man on the Inside". It is a quadriplegic man who has just had his first child and is writing about his experiences as a first time father and how he is finding ways to work with and around his disability. He wrote today about holding his son and needing to get the binky back into his son's mouth (he used his mouth to guide it back in). As always, the Lord sent me a perspective check right when I needed it; if he can take on an infant without the use of his arms and legs, then I can stop whining and remember that this time is temporary and the joy that Kylee is bringing and will bring is forever.
I don't know if this makes any sense whatsoever; blame the abbreviated sleep!

This is the first haircut that Kadin has not screamed through the entire thing (he still screamed at the beginning) and has sat on his own; which means that I don't have to get covered in hair trimmings anymore! YEAH!
Right after his haircut, giving Daddy his version of a smile (looks more like a grimace to me!)
Last night, when Kadin and I went in to read the nightly story, he picked "Grouchy Ladybug" and when I started to read it, he grabbed it and told me that he was going to read it to me. Since we have read that book about 9 million times, he could go through and recite the story pretty well from memory. He knew all the animals! It was pretty fun listening to him (and it was nice to have a story read to me for a change!)
Jeremy and I have been sick with a pretty nasty cold these last couple weeks. We were hoping not to pass it on to the kids, but how do you not get close to a newborn who needs to be held and rocked a lot? Kadin escaped, but Kylee did not. She has been snuffly and congested for the last couple days, and today she was having a hard time sleeping because of the congestion. She did great propped up and since I wasn't going to hold her for every single nap she took, she has been sleeping in her carseat today. (P.S. while we have had this cold, I discovered a new favorite thing; tissues with lotion AND Vicks in them. So while you are blowing your nose, you get a nice hit of menthol and added nose clearing! It says something about my life when I get excited about Kleenex!)
I love that Kylee is a redhead! She has the cutest strawberry blonde hair and I hope she keeps it for a while! She is so cute!
Kadin is always asking to hold Kylee, so this time I took my hands away (quickly!) and snapped a couple pictures. Kylee looks scared to death, which I would probably be too if I was at Kadin's mercy!
During nap time, Kylee and I had a little photo shoot and these are some of my favorite pictures of her. I think she is pretty adorable!

P.S. Kylee had another weight check on Monday and she is 7 lbs. 1 1/2 oz. We are so happy she is putting on the pounds quick!
